FIRST LEGO League Robot Design Hardware
Great robot design for FIRST LEGO League can be seen, when hardware, precise navigation, software, and an effective strategy come together, making it possible to score high in robot game.
Of course, it is impossible for newbie teams to know the requirements of robot game. Only by participating several times or by contacting successful FLL teams the understanding grows about what is important and how this can be implemented in hardware, software, navigation, and strategy.
Many teams start into there first season with a robot that is based on the standard robot from the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education core set. However, that standard robot sadly does hardly address any the robot game requirements.
Robot-Design hardware (especially) for newbies
To help team to do some things right during their first season, we created a presentation listing the robot game requirements and also providing ideas how to address those. We did this by combining the experiences from becoming a successful team with observations we made as referees and robot design judges.

We are already working on similar presentations about navigation and strategy. As soon these are available, they will be linked from here. Until then it can be beneficial to have a look at the presentation „Pimp my robot“ of 2014, even though text and audio recording are German language only.
